The crazy-style bakery in the mall is awesome. The amount of tourists in said mall...less awesome.

I took the bus to the Ala Moana shopping center on Monday, spent the day walking around doing stuff..reading manga in Barnes and Noble and putting them back in the wrong spot because I didn't want to walk halfway across the store and back again. When I went into Saint Germain (the bakery), it was very...expensive? With interesting food, like sweet potato turnovers (which I want to try, dammit!), anpan, melonpan, steamed green tea buns, lots of lunch-ish sort of buns - the kind with pizza toppings, or filled with I don't even know what. Most of the stuff is expensive, like I said, but they do have some awesome yummy cheap donuts.


Ohhhh and they have those really expensive fancy cakes, and the small cheesecakes and mousse and crazy stuff in the refrigerated case.

But it's the kind of place where you have to take a tray and tongs and get your food that way, and I'm kind of leery of using those tongs...I mean, do you know how many GERMS there would be on something like that? Ugh. (Although I bought a bunch of stuff there anyway, and I'm not dead yet, so I suppose it's okay...still kinda gross though.) They do have wax-paper liners for the trays though, so it's not like you have other-food-germs getting on your food. There was this one older guy who didn't know that you're supposed to use the liners and just put his stuff (why does an old guy need three muffins and eight sugar donuts? He'll go into a freaking diabetic coma or something!) on the tray. Ewwww.

And on the third floor of the mall, there's a wonderful place known as Shirokiya. It's kind of like a food court, in that there are a bunch of different vendors selling Japanese and Korean food. I saw a lot of stuff I want to try, but most of the stuff there costs upwards of six dollars..for just one thing! Wtf, America. It's also a regular store (more towards the back, once you get past all the food people), in that they sell a shit ton of other products from Japan. Three aisles of candy and snacks...oh, if only it weren't so expensive.

It took me about forty minutes to find the stupid place though, because God forbid these people make maps that make any sort of sense. Also, I don't know why, but I always seemed to get stuck behind people walking as slowly as they possibly could. STUPID TOURISTS GTFO.

As much fun as that was...it was really lonely. Especially when I got home and just kind of ruminated on how much more fun that would have been with a friend..and that I don't have any friends out here. I don't know anyone. I don't go to school or church, so it's not like I can just find people there to be friends with. Stupid navy.

I wanna try to go again today so I can try more food (you know food is the only part of that I care about lol), but I'm not sure mom will be willing to give me the money. Even the bus fare, she may just say no.


On another note..I bought a strawberry plant a few weeks ago and it's already dying. I've been watering it, not too much and not too little, and I put it in the sun and everything, so I don't know what the heck is going on with that. ...Maybe I'm just cursed.

And yeah. I haven't been writing lately. I haven't been doing anything, actually, except sitting in bed listening to old episodes of AWO and reading books. I'm having a bad time I guess...trying to deal with some things about myself that I don't like. (Or rather..trying NOT to deal with this stuff by just not doing anything.)
